Correctness and transparency

Calculation Methodology

CalculatorGoat separates pure calculation engines from the interface, documents accepted domains, and tests representative and boundary cases.

Engine policy

  • Decimal arithmetic for precision-sensitive decimal tools.
  • Exact BigInt rational arithmetic for the Fraction Calculator.
  • A constrained parser for scientific expressions—never JavaScript eval.
  • Explicit handling for division by zero, logarithm and root domains, factorial limits, and non-finite results.

Publication policy

  • A phase manifest must contain exactly five calculator IDs and canonical URLs.
  • Each tool progresses through planned, in-progress, and ready states.
  • Only ready tools are indexable and discoverable.
  • Workbook import audits duplicates, malformed URLs, missing names, route collisions, and unexpected domains.

Sources

References are displayed only when they genuinely support a definition, formula, method, unit, or numerical convention. Unverified source URLs remain off production pages.
